About the Team
DevTools China operates and evolves the developer toolchain for Scania's R&D and production IT organization in China, covering GitLab, Jira, Confluence, JFrog Artifactory and related DevOps platforms. The team works closely with Scania's global and India-based DevTools teams.
The team is currently driving two strategic initiatives: (1) enhancing the developer toolchain with AI coding assistants and agentic AI tools, and (2) a structured knowledge transfer and handover between the India team and the China team.
2. Role Overview
As a DevTools Intern, you will work at the intersection of AI tooling and DevOps operations. Your primary mission is to help the team evaluate, adopt and productize AI tools that enhance our developer toolchain, while supporting the ongoing India–China team handover through documentation, process mapping, permission audits and compliance archiving. This is a hands-on role with direct exposure to enterprise-grade DevOps platforms and cutting-edge AI development tools.
3. Key Responsibilities
Your work spans two tracks: the AI-augmented toolchain initiative and the India–China handover support.
3.1 AI Augmented Toolchain
? Evaluate and apply AI tools provided by Scania — including Tencent WorkBuddy, Alibaba Qoder, Alibaba Token Plan, and the open-source OpenCode — to real DevTools scenarios such as code assistance, documentation generation, ticket handling and automation scripting.
? Design and maintain reusable AI workflows (prompts, skills, automation scripts) that measurably improve the efficiency of the GitLab / Jira / Confluence / JFrog toolchain.
? Run comparative evaluations of AI coding assistants and toolchain integrations; document findings, benchmarks and recommendations in English.
? Collect user feedback from developers, produce usage guides and best-practice documentation, and help drive internal adoption of AI tools.
3.2 India–China Team Handover Support
? Assist the handover between the India team and the China team: organize, translate and consolidate operational documentation into a structured knowledge base.
? Map and document existing workflows and operational processes (runbooks, SOPs, escalation paths), identifying gaps and outdated content.
? Compile permission and access statistics across toolchain platforms (user accounts, group memberships, license usage) to support access governance reviews.
? Support compliance documentation: collect, classify and archive compliance-related documents into the designated repository in line with audit requirements.
4. Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who combines strong English communication skills with genuine enthusiasm for AI-powered development.
4.1 Must Have
? Excellent English proficiency — able to read, write and speak English as a working language (documentation, meetings with global/India colleagues); CET-6 or equivalent (IELTS 6.0+ / TOEFL 80+) preferred.
? Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
? Solid understanding of software development fundamentals and Git-based workflows.
? Strong interest in AI tools and LLM applications; hands-on experience with at least one AI coding assistant (e.g., WorkBuddy, Qoder, OpenCode, Cursor, Copilot).
? Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits; able to produce clear, structured written deliverables in English.
? Able to commit at least 4 days per week for 6 months.
4.2 Nice to Have
? Scripting skills in Python and/or Shell; familiarity with REST APIs.
? Hands-on experience with GitLab, Jira, Confluence or JFrog Artifactory.
? Knowledge of DevOps concepts (CI/CD, artifact management, access control).
? Experience in prompt engineering or building AI agent workflows / skills.
