Polestar极星创立于2017年，是一个全新的、独立的、瑞典豪华电动汽车品牌。极星由沃尔沃汽车集团和浙江吉利控股集团共同创立，享有沃尔沃汽车的技术工程协同优势，并得益于集团强大的规模经济效应支持。
公司总部位于瑞典哥德堡，目前已在欧洲、北美和亚太在内的多个市场开展零售业务。2023年前，极星将销售网络扩张至30个全球市场。目前，极星在中国的两个生产基地进行制造，未来将新增美国生产制造基地。
极星中国总部位于上海，目前已在北京、上海、广州、深圳、杭州、成都等一二线城市设有极星空间。极星全系产品均为中国制造，其中极星1由成都生产基地制造，极星2由中国台州工厂制造，极星Precept将由中国全新工厂制造。
