About the China-Britain Business Council

CBBC is the UK’s national business network promoting trade and investment with China. Since 1954 we have acted as the independent voice of business, located at the heart of the action, engaging across both countries in every sector and region. We support our members and partners by delivering the advice, analysis and access they need in order to seize opportunities in the UK and China. Our diverse membership includes leading UK companies and universities, many of the UK’s most dynamic SMEs and an ever-increasing number of Chinese companies exporting to and investing in the UK.

What are we looking for:

The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) is seeking interns to be based in our office in Shanghai. Working within our Commercial Team, an internship at CBBC offers the opportunity to experience the work of an organisation at the forefront of the UK-China business relationship.

Our internships, which run throughout the year, are available on a full-time basis and last between two and six months. Through working closely with our team across China and the UK, interns with the CBBC gain a deeper understanding of international trade relations between two of the world’s leading economies, support the growth of Chinese and British businesses and develop connections among a broad stakeholder network to take forward on future career paths.

Responsibilities

Interns work within CBBC to support delivery of our commercial services, including carrying out market research consultancy work for clients and members, developing market intelligence reports and analyses for the wider British business community, organising and delivering events and creating content for our social media accounts. Interns will be active in the wide range of sectors that CBBC operates within – including financial and professional services, advanced manufacturing, life sciences and healthcare, technology, renewable energy, training and education, e-commerce and retail, food and drink, the creative industries and the built environment – and as part of the programme will have the chance to explore areas they have a particular interest in in more detail.

Requirements

? Speak English and Chinese to a professional level
? Take a keen interest in international business, trade and investment
? Possess a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and design software (e.g., Canva)
? Enjoy working in a fast-paced, international environment
? Experience of research, event delivery and policy analysis is an advantage but is not mandatory
? A t least third-year undergraduate students or above. Preference will be given to currently enrolled postgraduate students
? Basic events management skills, providing careful attention to details
? Excellent team work
